Is your gas fireplace refusing to light, clicking without catching, or giving off a smell that doesn't seem right? FixaFlame LLC provides gas fireplace repair, annual service and gas log installations for homeowners across Central Oregon. I'm Ryan, the owner and the technician who shows up at your door. With 9 years in the hearth industry, I diagnose the problem, explain it in plain English, and fix it safely, usually in a single visit.
Gas Fireplace Repair Services
Gas fireplaces, inserts and freestanding gas stoves are convenient, but they rely on small parts that wear out. When one fails, the whole unit stops working. I repair all three types, from the pilot assembly to the blower.
Pilot Light & Ignition Repair
A pilot that won't stay lit is the most common call I get. The cause is usually a worn thermocouple or thermopile, a dirty pilot assembly, or a failing gas valve. I relight the pilot, test each component, and replace only what has actually failed.
Gas Fireplace Diagnostics & Troubleshooting
Some problems are harder to pin down. The flame may be weak, the fireplace may shut off on its own, or the wall switch may do nothing. I test the system step by step, from wall switches and wiring to valves and safety sensors, so you get a real answer instead of guesswork.
Blower Motor Installation
A blower pushes heat out into the room instead of up the vent. If your blower is noisy, weak or dead, I can replace it. I can also add a blower to many units that never had one.
Remotes, Thermostats & Timers
Want to turn on the fireplace from the couch or have it hold a set temperature? I install remotes, thermostats and timers on most gas fireplaces, inserts and stoves.
Annual Gas Fireplace Service & Maintenance
Gas fireplaces are often sold as maintenance-free, but they aren't. Dust, spider webs and debris collect around the burner and pilot over the summer. Glass gets a white film, and gaskets and vent connections wear out. An annual service catches these problems before they become a no-heat call in January.
Every annual gas fireplace service includes:
Inspection and cleaning of the burner, pilot assembly and logs
Glass cleaning to remove haze and film
A check of ignition components, valves and wiring
Gas leak testing
Carbon monoxide testing
A walk-through of anything that needs attention, with no pressure to add work you don't need
Fall is the best time to book, before the first cold snap fills the schedule. Want to know what else your hearth needs this season? Read our Central Oregon fireplace maintenance guide.
Gas Safety: Leak Checks & Carbon Monoxide Testing
Safety comes first on every gas job. I check for gas leaks and test for carbon monoxide on all indoor and outdoor gas appliances I service. If you smell gas right now, leave the house and call your gas utility or 911 first. Then call me for the repair.
Gas Log Sets & Fireplace Upgrades
Convert a Wood-Burning Fireplace to Gas Logs
Tired of hauling and splitting firewood? I install gas log sets into existing wood-burning fireboxes. You get the look of a real fire with the flip of a switch. Contact me to check whether your fireplace is a good candidate. Keeping your wood-burner instead? See my chimney sweep services.
Gas Log Fireplace Repair
If your gas logs are sooting up, burning with a lazy orange flame, or won't light, I can clean, adjust and repair the set and the burner under it.
Firebox Painting, Trim & Glass Doors
An older gas fireplace can look new again. I repaint interior fireboxes and trim, and I install glass doors on zero-clearance fireplaces.
Signs Your Gas Fireplace Needs Repair
Call for service if you notice any of these:
The pilot light keeps going out or won't light
The fireplace clicks but won't ignite
A weak, yellow or sooty flame
The fireplace shuts off by itself after a few minutes
Black soot on the glass, logs or surround
A gas or rotten-egg smell (leave the home and call your gas utility first)
Loud, rattling or silent blower
The remote or wall switch stopped working
It hasn't been serviced in over a year
Outdoor Gas Fire Pits, Patio Heaters & Grills
Gas service doesn't stop at the living room. I repair outdoor gas fire pits and patio heaters and do gas leak testing on outdoor appliances. I also connect them to existing gas lines. In spring and summer, I deliver and assemble fire pits and grills, and I repair all gas and pellet grill models.
